The 5th International Abalone Symposium will be held at Ocean University of China (renamed from Ocean University of Qingdao), Qingdao, China from 12th to 17th October 2003. The venue will offer excellent symposium facilities.
Accommodations
have been reserved for symposium participants from university residence to
five-star hotels. The room rates range from 30 to 195 USD/day/room. The detailed
information about the accommodation will be announced in the second
announcement.
China
is well known for her abundant and high-quality tourism resources. The ancient
historical vestiges in the north and beautiful natural scenery in the south
attract millions of tourists from abroad annually. Therefore, the post-symposium
tours will include not only abalone related field
trips, but also sightseeing tours.
If
you are interested in historic sites and ancient cultures, you can have a trip
to either Beijing or XiĄŻan. Beijing is a famous city with more than 700 years
as the capital. The famous sites are the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the
Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, the Summer Palace, and son on. XiĄŻan is
another ancient capital with more than 2000-year history and many historical
relics. Among them, the Museum of Emperor Qinshihuang's Tomb Figures of Soldiers
and Horses are one of the 10 most famous places in China, and are announced as
the world cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Natural
feature such as Guilin Mountains and Rivers, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
attract a large number of tourists from all over the world. The most renowned
Mountain Tai and the Temple of Confucius in Shandong Province also probably
excite you.
You
