The 4th Sino-German Summer School with the main title Oceans under Stress has been hold from July 26 to August 10 2008 at the Ocean University of China (OUC) in Qingdao, the Sailing City of the Olympic Games 2008.

Summer school 2007 |

The third Sino-German Summer School entitled “Processes in Coastal Zones” was held in Buesum, Germany from July 22 to August 3, 2007. Eight professors and six postgraduates from Germany, as well as nine teachers, 15 Ph.D. students and postgraduates from OUC attended to this Summer School. During the 12-day event, professors from both sides organized 16 academic reports and four academic visits concerning various fields such as Physical Oceanography, Marine Meteorology, Marine Geology, Marine Biology and Aquaculture. With their extensive knowledge, and advanced teaching methods which combined theories with practice, students benefited a lot from their professors. Moreover, during the Summer School, professors from two countries launched discussion about teaching modes and science and research cooperation.

| Summer school 2006 |

The second Sino-German Summer School was held in Bremen and Kiel, Germany during August 8th and Aug. 18th, 2006. This session welcomed 10 professors and 11postgraduates from Germany and 9 professors and 12 postgraduates from Ocean University of China. Centering on the major subject of “Global Warming Impact on Shelf – Open Ocean Systems”, professors from both sides delivered sixteen academic reports alternatively, covering such marine sciences fields, as Physical Oceanography, Ocean Meteorology, Marine Chemistry, and Marine Biology. During this session, many topics have been discussed in details about the Sino-German Initiative on Marine Sciences: Higher Education, such as curricula, accommodation and visa services.

| Summer school 2005 |

The first Sino-German Summer School was held in Ocean University of China during September 19th to September 30th, 2005, which was cosponsored by Ocean University of China, University of Kiel, University of Bremen, Center for Tropical Marine Ecology at the University of Bremen and Kiel Leibnitz Institute of Oceanography. The theme of this session was “Warming of the Ocean” . The participants consisted of 13 professors and 14 Ph. D. s selected by University of Kiel, University of Bremen, the Center for Tropical Marine Ecology at the University of Bremen and Kiel Leibnitz Institute of Oceanography, as well as 14 professors, 22 doctors and postgraduates from Ocean University of China. Professors from both sides delivered 11 academic reports during the twelve-day Summer School, covering such marine sciences fields, as Physical Oceanography, Marine Chemistry, Marine Geology, and Marine Biology.
