A Brief Introduction

The Library of OUC is composed of the two libraries on Yushan Campus and Fushan Campus respectively as well as those Reference Rooms of each colleges and departments. The L ibrary on Yushan Campus was moved into the current building in 1985, while the one on Fushan Campus has been put to use since 1992. With a total area of 15,600 square meters, the Library boasts 800 seats. The new L ibrary on Laoshan Campus with a floorage of 48,000 square meters is currently under construction .

Depatrments & Offices

The Departments & Offices include: Curator's Office,Administrative Office, Acquisition-cataloguing Department, No.1 Reading Department ,No.2 Reading Department, No.1 Circulation Department,No.2 Circulation Department, Technical Department. In addition, the library has two special organizations, one is Qingdao International Service for Education Exchange(QISEE), the other is Qingdao Authentication Center of Sci.&Tech. item and Achievement in SCI. Re. MOE, P.R.C..

Collection of Books and Materials

The total collection of the library is 794,030 copies,especially renowned for those oceanography and fisheries. The way of collecting is two-level collection. The non-professional literature is collected by the library, and the professional ones by the reference room of the related college.

Automation and digitalization

The library has recently made great efforts in library automation and digitlization recently. It has collected 20 kinds of CD databases, set up 4 kinds of databases by itself, and has connceted with 7 on-line retrieving institutions. The library owns more than 200 computers, 9 servers.The local network has also been established.Electronical reading-rooms and multi-medium reading-rooms are in use as well.
