The College offers 13 doctoral programs in Marine Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology and Ecology etc., as well as 13 programs for Master¡¯s Degree in the disciplines mentioned above. Among the academic disciplines of the College, Marine Biology is one of the national key disciplines. The College also houses Shandong Provincial Key Discipline in Genetics, two Provincial Key Labs of Marine Biotechnology, Marine Genetics and Breeding as well as UNESCO Chinese Center of Marine Biotechnology. The College has a post of professorship of Cheung Kong Scholars Programs in Marine Biology, a post of professorship of Taishan Scholars Programs in Marine Genetics and Breeding, 16 Ph.D. supervisors, 23 professors, 25 associate professors and four senior engineers.

UNESCO Chinese Center of Marine Biotechnology
Main activities:
- Organizing training courses and serving as a local center for imparting of biotechnological knowledge in this region.
- Proving facilities and scientific expertise for education and training of regional scientists and the development of manpower in aquatic biotechnology.
- Establishing an appropriate infrastructure and providing scientific leadership in the development and application of novel aquatic biotechnologies in the least developed countries in the region.

- Bioresearches, physiology and genetics of marine yeasts and bacteria.
- Marine biotechnology of marine microorganisms.
- Physiology, genetics and application of terrestrial yeasts.
